FORMAT
The 2024 World Championship is just a month away, and we’re excited to share more details about the tournament format.
As previously announced, the 2024 World Championship will feature a Resurrection format. This means that participants will play with the same team throughout the entire tournament, with no evolution or changes between matches. Teams will be created upfront, following specific rules for cash spending and skill allocation. Once the tournament begins, players won’t earn SPPs (Star Player Points), injuries won’t carry over, dead players will be revived after each match, and no additional cash will be gained. In this format, crafting your team before the tournament is a crucial step. Once the match starts, it’s all about securing victory.
The 2024 World Championship will bring together 64 coaches from across the globe. These coaches have either qualified through the Official Ladder or earned their spot from one of the 38 Supported Competitions this year.
The tournament will consist of two phases.
Group Phase
For the group phase, the 64 players will be randomly divided into 16 groups of 4.
Each coach will face the other three in their group once, in a single match. Matches can end in a draw. A win earns 3 points, while a draw awards 1 point.
The top two coaches from each group will advance to the second phase—the knockout stage.
In the event of a tie for a qualifying spot, the first tiebreaker will be the number of wins, followed by the number of touchdowns scored, and then the number of touchdowns conceded. If teams remain tied, regardless of the in-game ranking, administrators will organize tiebreaker matches to definitively determine which coach advances to the next phase.
KNOCK-OUt PHASE
In the knockout phase, only 32 coaches will remain.
A tournament bracket will be randomly set up, with the rule that in the first round, coaches who finished 1st in their group will face those who finished 2nd in another group.
Each matchup will consist of two legs, plus a third tiebreaker match if necessary, as follows:
- Match 1: Played anyway, and can result in a win, loss, or draw.
- Match 2: Played similarly, and can also result in a win, loss, or draw.
If both coaches win one match each, or if both matches end in draws, a third decisive tiebreaker match will be played:
- Match 3: Played if needed, with overtime if the match is still tied after 16 turns. If there is still no winner after overtime, the result will be determined by a penalty shootout.

TEAM CREATION RULES
In any Resurrection format, the skill set is a crucial element, as it defines the tools participants have to build their teams.
To balance the strength of different factions, a tier system is in place, providing more cash and additional skills to teams that are theoretically weaker in this format.
Below are the team creation rules for the 2024 World Championship.

Cash allowed: 1,150k
